There was a time I was a R93 owner, and I thought I knew the majority of what Blaser had going on.

I haven't owned a R93 since 2008, the R93 success interest me, kind of.

If I buy a 416 Rem Mag barrel for the R8 can that be fitted to a Success, without damaging the $2300 stock?

Is there such a thing as a Safari Success, I can't find one on their website.

I have also heard that it is possible to get a R8 with a steel receiver?

Can this be done in a success?

The steel receivers are available in the various safari rifles, both wood and synthetic, as well as the Attache' model. Someone said the Success is available in the wide barrel channel, but I've never seen one. Andre' at Blaser will open up a barrel channel for a nominal charge.

I have a steel receiver Attache' with the wide barrel channel if interested in something nice.

I need to handle one then the Success looks like it would work for me. The only R8 I have ever seen was about 4 or 5 years ago.

I had thought of trying to find a Sauer 202 thumbhole stock and buying a magnum frame, as I already have a Sauer 202 and a couple barrels for it. But I finally got the handle the 202 thumbhole and it is weird feeling.

How does the recoil in the Success work?

It is like a Lawson style thumbhole where you take quite a bit of it on your palm, splitting recoil on your shoulder leading in a very straight back recoil?

I have shot thumbholes that were designed like that and some that still put the main force 90+% into your shoulder.

Are they going to do a tan stock for the R8?

Haven't had a chance to bomb anything yet with my R8/500j, yet!
However in 416 and 375 works a treat. Very quick on a follow-up shot! Coupled with an aimpoint or similar the R8 is a devastating set-up on game!
Good thou suspicious battery for a PH! Wink

Everytime I see a Blaser rifle with fluted barrel I think of a bananapeel...I simply don´t know why it pops into my mind at first glance. Do we have any mind interpreters
on the forum?... Big Grin
