JD Jones built a lot of big crazy stuff over the years, but this thing just puts a big ass grin on my face every time I fire it.

Better you them me.

I decided for handguns a 300gr bullet or so at 1500fps is all I care to enjoy.

Tony: Have a video? I would love to see it fired. Congratulations on owning it.

I don't have a video shooting it, but it's really less spectacular than you would expect. It makes one hell of a roar, but muzzle rise is pretty much nothing. It just comes straight back. Surprisingly, it doesn't hurt my hand at all like a Smith 500 with heavy bullets. Those guns make your hand feel like it was hit with a baseball bat.

I knew a guy who was friends with Jones that had one of those. I never got to shoot it.

Tony, ever run it over a chronograph? Curious as to the load and velocities.

I would venture to say that it is downloaded a bit from your typical 470 Big Grin.

I only shoot full power maximum loads taken from the Hornady manual with 500gr DGX bullets. Why have a 470 pistol if you're just going to down load it?

The barrel is 13.5" long. I'll chrono it shortly and post the numbers.

Looks like they're making a revolver for it too.

David Viers made a single shot custom pistol for the Snipetac .375 which was based on a Gibbs .505 case. He offered one to me. Very accurate. I have one as a hunting rifle and taken many US animals with it.
