He meant Rooger (rhymes with Booger ).

rugger, rhymes with bugger...which is what you could do for yourself with one, IMHO!!

Dan; thanks for providing proper pronunciation. I was wondering how YOU pronounced it. I had the notion that it rhymed with "booger".

That poll is not looking good for the 375 Ruger and doubly so when there are more actions for it that are basically ready to go.

Actually, the 375 Ruger would be good to rebarrel a Vanguard/Howa because at least that way the screw in the front of the action would be in straight

I don't have fancy rifles like many here but I do/did have a few 375H&Hs. CZ, RSM, M70, Mark10. I no longer have the M70 or Mark10 and find the CZ & RSM too bulky/heavy. I was looking at building another 375/338WM or a 9.3X62 on a standard action when the new 375Ruger came out. Much of the talk on this forum nearly swayed me away from the Ruger, until I started seeing actual results and I handled the actual rifle. I purchased it and am very happy w/ my choice to date. So far, all the negagtive spin appears to be false and of no value to anyone looking for an informed opinion.

Rich...Dan...Mike, you guys are spending way too much energy beating on the Ruger.

I have not owned any 375, yet.

While I really have a lot of admiration for the Grand Dame H&H, I'm not a traditionalist.

I like what I see in the 375 Ruger/M77 Hawkeye package.

For the money, I don't see how one can beat this package.

I like the cartridge design in the Ruger. With modern propellents, the shape and capacity of this new offering gets excellent ballistics. Even with the generally accepted fact that game "rarely" can tell the difference of 100fps. or even more, it will do anything the H&H will do and do it in a smaller package.

Of course, the fact that I own a 300 WSM, probably puts me in the heretic class.

I plan on buying a 375 ruger, which model? I'm not sure yet.

While I really like the 375 H&H I would opt for the 375R. I like the slightly shorter action. I like the fact that it offers a wide choice of actions. I like the fact that when the bullet arives at the target, it doesn't matter if it was a classic or not or how darn much it cost. High end to me is something that gets the job done right and dozens of calibers will do that.

I just can't square this up in my mind.

Don posts 2705 for 300gr 375HH, and Jeff Quinn posts 2757 for 300gr 375 Ruger, and the ruger is 6.75% larger (per rip)..

the rule of thumb, 25% of capacity gain becomes velocity gain, is 2750.65ish..

6.35 FPS "over pressure".. or is that stand deviation.


Besides, it's not like pushing a lott WAY past 2300 FPS or anything

The large majority of postings have been positive on the 375 Ruger. I certainly know my earlier postings were that way and I continue to see it as cutting into the 338 Win market.

The more recent postings have been centred around whether someone would select the 375 Ruger or the H&H for an expensive custom gun.

The 375 Ruger is a great idea but better as a platform to build a standard length 404.

I am worse than you because I have 378 Wbys ...wrong rifles and wrong calibre. I wish Wby would bring out a 270/378 so I could buy one just to annoy people
