Sounds similar to what the smith down at the shop just built: Rem 600 action 450 Marlin w/16.5"? bbl synthetic stock ~5.5 lbs ...his Idaho backcountry daypack gun!

Hi Jeffe, That little guy is going to be a bit nasty on both ends. Post some pictures of that one in full recoil. Oh hell just post some pictures. Take care, Dave

A 15.25" LOP?? Remind me to be nice. Your project sounds like fun! Do you have many .458 bullet molds? How about for the .505"? Guess that would be a special order? I'm thinking about making up some plinking rounds for practice.

Hey Guys, Yeah, it'll get meat at both ends... and I think i'll invent the Backwards 'smith Rating.. BS-r, for felt recoil and missed second shots... Nick, I'll be calling wayne D for lead bullets... or midway for 405 jackets... yee ha jeffe

Jeffe, Gun Parts (Numrich) had some sporter type bottom metal for Swedes. I don't know if they still do, but I bought a couple of them and they were alright for the price. Release catch in the trigger bow, hinged floorplate, all steel. The trigger bow itself needs work, it's very clunky, but you get a lot of "starter" for your money. - Dan

jefeosso If you are going to shoot jacketed bullets above 1700fps you might try the Hornady 350 round nose. They feed real good in bolt[458] or lever[45/70] rifles and will hold together all the way up to 2300fps[450 No2].Also I think the 400gr. Swift A-Frame at 1800 t0 2000fps would be good for real big stuff, and not kick too bad. With a 20 inch that 458 would make a great North American rifle for the thick stuff. I have had a couble of 458's, there is a BIG difference between the recoil of a 350gr bullet and 70gr of IMR 3031, and a 500gr bullet and 70gr of IMR 3031. And my 458's weighed more than 7.25lbs!!
