I saw some where on the net that the 2006 catalog from Ruger lists the No1H chambered for 9.3X74R! Has anyone seen one of the 06 catalogs, who can verify this? I can't find one around here, but their web-site doesn't say anything about this new chambering! Confused

I'm hopeing this is true, because if it is, I'll be buying myself a belated Christmas present! thumb beer

I haven't seen the 2006 catalog from Ruger yet. And, like you, I couldn't find anything on Ruger's web site about it. That's not a big surprise, however.I think Ruger will save the 2006 new product announcements for the SHOT show. And, I've found that a lot of firearms (and shooting sports related) companies are slow about keeping their web sites up to date. Too many old school guys in the industry that don't "get" the Internet, I guess.

But, my gunsmith friend has confirmed with his account rep at JSC (big wholesale distributor) that Ruger is listing the 9.3x74R in the Ruger No.1-H for 2006.

Also, you might want to read through this thread over on 24HourCampfire:
New Ruger Number 1H in 9.3X74R

Hope this helps....

As a big fan of Ruger No1's, and a big fan of the 9,3x74R, I think they are a great match.
Since I have a Chapuis double I do not need a No1 in 9,3.... But I can HIGHLY recommend the combination.

Tony, i have two 9.3X74R double rifles, and I still want one of the No1s. I love No1s almost as much as I do double rifles.........Well close anyway! Confused

I understand it's going to be a #1H, I only wish it were a #1S, 26" bbl. in a nice hunting wt. rifle.

How hot can the 9.3x74 be loaded in a strong rifle like the #1? MV with a 285 grain bullet?

I don't know how hot you can load it in a No1, but the working pressure of the No1 is a very comfortable 65,000 lbs. I would assume one could do a lot with this round.

I operate on a different line, however! I have, over the years, had No1s chambered the same as my double rifles, and worked the loads up for the doubles, and then zeroed my scoped No1 for that ammo. My reasoning was, This give me a scoped rifle that uses the same ammo as my double rifle. I let one of the boys carry the unloaded No1, and I carry my double. If a complex shot is needed, I simply break the double, dropping the ammo in my hand and trade rifles to use the scoped No1 with the same ammo. This way one is never holding one rifle with the ammo belt for another, and the loads for one is not too hot for the other! This was done throughout history of the Walk-about hunters of old Africa. It was a good idea then, and is today as well! beer

I share your love for the 9,3x74R, which is why the rifle bbl for my drilling will be the 9,3. thumb Big Grin
