| What do you mean by barrel life? Before the rifle will stop providing what type of accuracy? |

| I have a .375 H&H I've been carrying a lot since '95. It has at least 1,000 rounds through it. When it was first built I tried seven different handloads. The largest 100 yard 3-shot group was 1.25" the smallest measured .292" center-to-center. I can't seem to get it to shoot anything under 1.25" now but that's plenty good enough. I've shot out two after-market 10/22 .22LR barrels which I was told was IMPOSSIBLE to do so maybe they can't handle as many rounds as people think. (Both barrels initially shot 5-shot 1/2" groups at 50 yards. After 10 years of shooting one wouldn't hold much under 1" at 50 yards and the other wouldn't consistantly shoot under 2" !!!! at 50 yards. I used nylon brushes, nylon coated rods, a muzzle protector and didn't over clean. After trying everything else I gave up and replaced the barrels and both shoot 1/2" again. Go figure). Kyler |

| Unless your shooting 3 rounds a minute or indulging in long strings of fire with no cool down and don't carefully clean your barrel (what is needed not Drill Inspector Certified)
Then I would say minimum 5000 rounds and the accuracy would still be minute of...whatever... Gilt edge accuracy is needed for things like Police sniping rifles, match guns and varmint rifles (yes and no on this one)
Improper cleaning can wear out a barrel faster than shooting. |

| I feel if a rifle can't give me a 2 inch group at 2 hundred its for the garbage. If you are going to shoot offhand you need a very accurate rifle. Not one that shoots 3 inches at 100 and 2 feet at 150.A 1 inch group at 100 turns to 1 foot at 100 offhand.Unless you are a very trained shot and have a stong hold. |

| Have over 1,000 rounds through my dad's Weatherby 375 H&H and other than shaking itself loose at about the 900 round mark, it's still going strong. Still holding 1" or better at 100. Other than the bolt being on the wrong side, it's been a reliable rifle. Lucky for me I don't have to shoot it much, the stocks cast for right handed shooters and I've been wacked a few times by the scope trying to get aligned correctly. |

Ditto. 375 H&Hs are faily easy on barrels. If you are prudent with your cleaning techniques, the barrel will outlast you.

| I've shot 3500 rounds of hot .220 Swifts through a barrel in a prudent manner (not overheating) before accuracy went over the MOA mark. A .375 should last longer than that, so I would tend to believe the 5000 round estimate. While I've worn out many a barrel, none have been on a .338 and up bore. Not many people shoot a .375 enough to ever wear one out. I don't worry about barrel life every time I pull the trigger, just shoot whenever I feel like it, replace as needed, just like repairing a car or anything else.
