10.75 magnum...Ever hear of it? Login/Join

Im looking at a mauser rifle that I thought was a 10.75x68. Apparently with the dies and fireformed cases, it appears as if it has been rechambered for a sharp-shoulderd, belted cartridge from the original 10.75x68 chamber. The RCBS dies are labeled 10.75 MG. Anyone ever hear of this cartridge? Seems like it would be close the .425 Express.

Thanks!

K

What a shame that the barrel has been rechambered. That just cut the value of the rifle in half. The 10.75x68 is a good caliber and can be loaded up or down to your needs. Will work for almost anything on planet earth.

Thanks Corbin. My thoughts exactly. It's priced right though.

If that is the 10.75 Miller-Greis magnum it may well have been ordered like that, rather than a rechambering job. What action is the rifle built on?

As far as I know, the 10,75 Miller Greiss had neither a sharp shoulder nor a belt. My suggestion is a mail to RCBS, they would know what they have made!

Kynoch,
You are having a very interesting problem!

As far as I know, Miller & Val. Greiss never made a Proprietary 10,75 cartridge. As you can see below they made some interesting cartridge:

But I think that your rifle is chambered for the .404 Schüler Magnum (.416 Rigby case necked up to take the .423 bullet).

The photo's below comes originally from ALF!:

I think that the rifle is very interesting and you would be quite alone on the Safari with such a rifle, but there are some around in South Africa. Ken Stewart of Pietersburg makes bullets and cases for it.

Husky,
Thanks for very interesting info!
But, Kynoch stated that his rifle was chambered for a belted cartridge?

Hi Bent!
yes, your'e right!
I didn't see that. Then i would guesstimate that the chamber of the rifle is rechambered for some US wildcat. what do you think about a .375H&H/.423? or .378 Weatherby/.423???
