Hornady .450-400 NE dies

Bill/OregonHornady .450-400 NE dies
Thought I would post this heere, becauyse there's so much less traffic on the reloading forum. I just ordered a set of Hornady .450-400 NE 3-inch dies today by phone for $84. The gal I spoke with said Hornady had not yet released the dies because they needed to tweak the final dimensions. She said the engineers were in fact meeting this afternoon to finalize the specs, and to expect the dies in two or three weeks. Thought I would mention this for all those out there pondering a set of dies from RCBS or CH4D for a LOT more money. Now that I have the dies ordered, and some brass coming from Grafs, I guess I just need to come up with the jack to buy the damned rifle ...
There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t.

Probably regarding CIP's change to the shoulder dimension last summer.

RIPDid Ruger get the CIP specs right for the Ruger No.1's?
Hornady works fast if they can finalize the specs today and ship dies in 2 or 3 weeks.

I called Hornady over a month ago, and just said I would call back later to check on progress.
Thanks for the reminder.

BlankSounds like the deal with Hornady is just about done. About two weeks ago I called and they didn't have any info or dates yet. RCBS would gladly do a set of special order dies, but the price was $285 and there was a wait!
I've got loaded rounds, Hornady brass, bullets in both SP and the new Barnes Banded Solids and can hardly wait.

Hoo-Ha, are you lucky. I've got a brand new #1 in the caliber and can't find loaded ammo or brass for it. I've got plenty of bullets. I'll wait until Hornady's reloading dies come out. When it comes together, I'm off to pot a Nilgai!

BlankSupposedly, MSRP on the Hornady is about $106 per box. Gun Broker has been having it for $79 or $89 per box, and Wholesale Hunter has listed quite a few boxes of brass for $29.
