I have not chronied these loads but would like to hear some estimates. 500 grain Hornady, WW cases, CCI magnum primer, 67, 68, 69, 70, 71 grains of IMR-4895. Rifle has a 24" barrel. Thanks

I am shooting 74.5gr of h4895 with 500gr Hornadys in my CZ with a 25" barrel and it chronoes at 2182mv. I have not tried IMR4895 but it should work just fine.

I have used 74 grains of IMR-4895 with the 500 grain Hornady for 2110 FPS _____________________________________________________ A 9mm may expand to a larger diameter, but a 45 ain't going to shrink Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing had happened. - Winston Churchill

71.5 IIRC!!! of H 4895 gives me ~2150fps as I recall, but it is erratic in my rifle, with big differences between rounds. Free 500grains

Snellstrom, From Quickload: 67 gr = 1970 fps 68 gr = 2000 fps 69 gr = 2027 fps 70 gr = 2056 fps 71 gr = 2084 fps Reality check: In my old Vz24 (which had a 24" tube) 72 gr gave 2111 fps (69gr gave 2029 fps). So I am fairly confident these Quickload velocities are close to real.

Thanks guys very useful information. About what speeds do people expect out of factory rounds with 500 grain bullets?

Snellstrom, Factory 500gr loads that I have chronographed from a 24" barrel tend to run around 2040 fps.
