Hoehne,

I will follow Ray and say that the bullet is on the soft side. I used the .375"/270 grain Hornady Interlock bullet in my .376 Steyr on a big eland in '01. This is Hornady's factory ammunition for the .376. The bullet didn't make it through the shoulder on the first shot, nor through the hand quarter on the second, though both shots broke bones. I was then able to walk up and put a shot in the neck to finish the animal.

I would move up to the Nosler Partition. You know those will work on anything.

300 gr Hornady rouns nose a rear end shot from 80 or so yards.....bullet had to penetrate some spine and ruined the main hip joints etc. on the way through. Bullet was found under the hide of the chest..

I've had no problems with the Hornady 300 gr in my .375. A bullet that will anchor the animal by smashing hip and spine, punch a half-inch (or so) hole in the blood vessel laden liver, continue on through the bullet trap of the rumen, and whack on through the lung/heart region, making about 3 feet worth of penetration, works for me.
