I am looking for a new set of necg sights for a safari express I am going to use an adjustable rear sight and I am not sure wheather to get a screw on front ramp or a banded front ramp. Which is better in your opinion? also what height would be best? thanks

Andy, What is the adjustable sight you are using?? I can tell you a NECG in fiber optic is super..It is like a lazer dot in front when you sight..Also make sure you get a spare and be able to install anually if it breaks... My Lott has NECG express rear and front fiber optic bead on the new Ruger..Took buf and bull ele.. Mike

The heighth of the front sight will depend on the heighth of your rear sight, taper of the barrel, etc. I think the old rule is that they should be the same distance above the center of the bore. A shot not taken is always a miss

Retreever I was leaning towards the necg masterpiece fully adjustable rear sight or the express sight. The sights will be a backup to a scope but I still want the best I can get. Thanks

I would go with a barrel band as it is much stronger and on safari that is important...I like non adjustable filed in shallow V sighted in for 1" high at 50 yards. I like things tough and solid, no screws, flip flops or gimmicks. the best is a barrel band front with a square partridge from Necg and a pop up peep from brockman or slide on peep from Talley, both work off talley bases...... Buy a .007 high partridge front sight for the barrel band and file it to zero with the peep in center of adjustment... Absolutely agree with the barrel band front. The fiber optic is the best. As for the rear, I have the NECG fixed standing blade (with a custom inlaid gold center line) with one fold up leaf on two (soon three) of my DGRs and like them a lot. I think the old "pick a load and file the sight" method is best. Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.

MR....who did your inlay? I've been shooting mine with a toothpick-applied white nail polish in that little groove...works good but something a little more permanent might be nice. I know a jeweler...maybe he could do it? Thanks. Gary B.

Scrollcutter did a great job for me last year at $15 a blade. Mine had three folding and no standing. For a little more he does an inverted tiangle on the standing blade which I have not seen but sounds just right. "Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.

Any decent engraver should be able to cut the line and do the inlay for you. Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.
