310 gr lee .429 cast and harded sized to .415 and lubed no gas check. 8grs herco 900fps avg 10grs herco 1008 fps avg 13grs herco 1198 avg. all very accurate at 25 and 50 yards. The only trouble is they well not feed out of the mag due to the very flat nose they like to catch on the chamber mouth. No recoil to speak of would make a nice light deer load.

Wow, somebody else has the same imagination as me (that's scarey). I have the same mould and was going to get a .416-.417" sizer to try in my Taylor. At least now I know it will work. Was there enough lube grooves left after sizing. The bullet starts off with a pretty wide nose so it's no wonder they won't feed. I picked up some cast bullets for the 40-65Win. sized at .406 and paper patched them to .416" and loaded them over a case full of FFG. As you said no recoil and 1.5" groups at 50 yards offhand.

If you wanted something more Taylor made for your gun, look at www.mountainmolds.com He can turnout most anything you might want. You could get a 2 cavity mold with a 300gn plainbase and 400gn gaschecked for plinking and high velocity or what ever. He made my 500gn mold for the 470 and they shoot great at 2150. Also have you heard about the beagleing method? You might consider a 41 mag mold, then take some aluminum tape, cut in small strips, place them on the inside of the mold halves to shim the mold apart. You might have to let the mold cool abit between pours, but is a cheap reversible way to cast slightly oversize. Or you cold buy an inexpensive Lee mold and lap the cavity out for a larger size??

No I would not need a 2nd round. They give one hole groups could shoot them in the eye. It feeds most of the time off the left side of the mag so I could have a 2 shot repeater. It is just fun trying out new things besides I can always shoot them in one of my 44s.m They come out .430 just right for the 44. Yes there are lube groves left over after sizing. I know there are custom mold makers out there but I just a cheap guy who doesn't want to spend that kind of money. I think a nice 500gr rd nose about 1800 would be just the ticket for fun. some day i'll find a cheap mold for that.
