Wanted - CZ 550 Mag recoil clips
Wanted - CZ 550 Mag recoil clips
The metal (~1"x2")
F-shaped recoil clip that drops into the forend of the CZ 550 Mag rifles.
Apparently there has been a hiccup at the factory and there are a bunch of guys waiting for the 375's, etc. because there are no clips available.
The one I had I gave to CZ from a rifle that I had re-barreled.
If I could ask you to mail any that you have laying around to CZ it would be apppreciated.
No, you will not get paid for the clips nor reimbursed for postage but you would help out customers/hunters waiting for the 375's, etc., which are vitually impossible to get because of the parts shortage.
Mail to:

Thanks.

KennethISpeaking of the F-block...
I got a quick question for you guys. Don't mean to throw this thread off course but is the F-block supposed to have wiggle room when the stock is attached? I took my CZ apart and put it back together but can hear it tinging when I shake it. I made sure the screws were tight. Thanks for the help.

F block is what CZ displays when it cant provide parts for its own guns.

I think the F block should be very tight against the barrel recoil lug. Do a search on Gunsmithing and check out what is said.
F Block I used the super glue method to hold the F block to the recoil lug and glassed the F block into the stock.
I then glass bedded the action and free floated the barrel.
The factory target was 3 1/2 inches at 50 meters. The rifle now shoots less than 1" groups.

lawndartI'll send one to them.
There are plenty of machine shops in KC that could crank out a couple hundred of those in two days for not much $$. End of problem.

Hmmmmmmm, maybe they could make some metal followers while they are at it? Nawwwww.
"F"-ing incredible.

Hard to imagine CZ does not have the sense to contact a machine shop to make these....

They are trying to get some made locally. As long as it's not a gunsmith....you know how fast a turnaround they have!

3 1/2inch group at fifty meters ? Sounds like a shooter to me!
Bill,
Who's trying to get some made?
Is this a spring or a machined part?

Most here problably know that the factory test targets are not shot for accuracy, but only for function. On all of the modern CZ rifles I have, the test targets show enormous 3-5 shot groups while most of the rifles shoot far above their Remchester competitors at the range.
On a side note, asking for F-blocks must be a bit embarrasing for CZ. Bill, has CZ asked you to do this, or are you just trying to help them out?
The only F-blocks I have are bedded in my rifles, but if I had a spare I would certainly be willing to give it up and the reason is this:
Just a few days ago I called CZ because I had damaged a small part on one of my rifles. I let them know that it was my fault, and this is what I got. No questions, no charges, friendly service, and a part sent same day. I wish I could repay the service with a spare F-block.
Wes
I tried to get a CZ 550/375 awhile ago and was told it would be awhile. So when I was by CZ I asked what the problem was...the F-shaped clip or the F-block, whatever it is called. So I gave them the one I had laying around.
No, they didn't ask me to ask for donations. Nor do they know I am asking. Just trying to be a nice guy.
But you can see the grief I get for it.

WannabeBwanaCan someone explain what the F-block does?
I found the one in mine when I had the stock of to adjust the trigger. The rifle had been bedded by the previous owner, and I thought it might have been something he put in, but I guess not.
It sits in there loose, but seems to be snug when I put the stock back on. At least it's not rattling.

JBoutfishnThe F Block gives the barrel recoil lug something to anchor against. Read my post above and click on "F Block".
Doing a search on "F Block" on the Gunsmithing Forum gives lots of information.

Thanks, Jim! That looks easy enough to machine.

CZ-Europe needs to work on the BLUING while they are at it!
On an elk hunt in Montrose, CO. my CZ550 in .416 Rigby was THE ONLY rifle out of five different makes of blued rifles to severely RUST after a snowstorm.....and I was the one equipted with a silicon rag. I wiped the cannon down with paper towels, then siliconed it first before anyone else borrowed my rag, and the next morning it resembled the Titanic.

I DO APPRECIATE the fact that they brought big bores into the "affordable" range however!

Please, don't take it so personally!

Even if CZ-USA was personally asking for donations, it would not reflect on YOU or CZ-USA.........it reflects on CZ in the Czech Republic!
