Well I got the interarms 458. I have shot it several times seems to be a good shooting rifle. Only shooting up the 3 boxes of factory 510gr shells he gave me with the gun.
Found one big problem the mag box comes open when shot dont know if my finger is hitting the latch button inside the trigger guard at recoil or if recoil is doing it buy its self? Gonna get the latch problem worked out while I wait for my other parts to arrive.
Looking in the action I would say the front hasnt been opened up. It still has a lot of metal up there. Looks like if you took the mag box back to even with the back of the action and maybe a bit more up front or back it would feed the 458 lott. But it would be tight. Dont know if she will be opened up bigger depends on how fast she will push a 450 gr the way she is.
I have a new stock coming as I want an english style rifle. Is the original Montey carlo style stock worth anything? Its in nice shape only a couple of small dings.
Do you all feel one cross bolt is enough or should I add another?

Tonto,
you'll need another recoil lug, and probably 2 crossbolts.. read my post on "rob was right" on my 500 jeffe spliting the stock.

Tonto:
This brought back memories...I had an Interarms .458 "Whitworth Express" that did the exact same thing of the floorplate flying open. I had a gunsmith weld a longer latch on the floorplate and install a stronger spring on the magazine release. It cured it, but was a real bitch to open.
I agree with Jeffe...the amount of wood removed in the stock leaves little for strength. Do what he says as far as the cross bolts and lugs..

I was thinking another recoil lug. Wasnt sure about the cross bolt but Ive added that to my list.
I am going to add a bit to the latch, going to stretch the spring a bit and also want to move the latch button to the outside of thr trigger gaurd.
I ordered a english style stock for it.
I bought her for the extra shots over my #1 well it sucked to see them laying on the ground after every shot. [Mad]
Thanks
