What would be a good scope choice for a 500 S&W pump carbine? I am thinking a 2.5x or so. Also, does anyone make flat scope bases?

I have a Leupold 2x7 variable on mine but I will be replacing it with a Leupold M8 6x42 on the next range trip because I like them better.

For $1600 they should come with a scope base as an option!! Weaver makes a bunch of one piece bases, the one for the 835 Mossy might work if the contour is right and the receiver can be drilled and tapped. If you want a steel base, Warne makes some that may work with some modification.

As for a scope, I have a Nikon Prostaff 2-7x32 shotgun scope on my .500S&W Handi-rifle, it works very well and has held up to some stout loads, 350gr XTPs at 2150fps 440gr CP at 1950fps and 700gr RRs at 1430fps.

He made me a rail mount and drilled/tapped the receiver for it. I thought it should be option as well.

With a weaver style base,
the NEGC peep sight would be very good on such a rifle, if your front sight is easy to see.
