Searcys ARE NOT made in South Africa
I heard recently that some (or) all of the Searcy DRs were (or) are (or) used to be made in South Africa?

Anyone know anything about this?

Been to Boron and saw the CNC setups, wood pile, blue tanks, smiths working, heat treated parts, Butch's reload room etc..

All made in the good old Boron, Calfornia.

Rumor is absolutly wrong. No rifle has ever or will be sold with my name on it that came out of RSA. But I did try to get a shop in RSA to build some for me. But after spending allot on money and allot of time I found that it was a bad deal.

That makes sense.

That is today, but his origenals were made in Farmington, New Mexico! As soon as he came to Baron, Ca, he got his CNC equipment, and the rest is history! Farmington, NM, and Baron Cal. are the only two places they have been made, but Butch is opening a shop in Sturgis, South Dakota, I think, but I understand his place in Baron will remain open. I have no idea what will be done in each place, but that's the rumour! In any event all B. Searcys are made in the USA, and always have been, with the only thing coming from any place else is the Browning BSS actions used on his earliest rifle coming from over seas, and redone here by butch! He makes his own rifles from scratch now with only barrel blanks coming from other makers, but still in the USA. beer

My guess would be Sturgis, SD, not North Dakota.
There is quite a few firearm/ammunition companies in Sturgis. The most popular being Dakota Arms, Cor-Bon ammo, Superior ammunition.
Can Mr. Searcy verify?

Jeff, I did buy about 35 Vektor actions several yrs. back. But I haven't built a bolt rifle in yrs also, no time.
Sturgis update, I'm regulating the first rifle built by my guys in South Dakota. My guys here and myself was very impressed with the first one. In fact when I'm done regulating and finishing of the rifle I will have it at the West Coast Double rifle shoot in Sacromento the 8th of Oct. I'll have a 500 N.E., 470 N.E., and a 450X400 3" there to play with also.
I'm leaving for Sturgis mid Oct. to look for a larger place to set up for the next yr. or so.
I will have a show room there with a liers corner where I wil be telling and listing to good tells of the bush.

I don't think Butches probation officer will let him leave the state of CA for longer than 5 days in row.

So he can't move there full time.

I would suspect that there is a better business conditions in South Dakota vs. Califorina. Thou I got to spend a couple of weeks on Lake Tahoe. Great Place, but I could never live In CA.
