Mr. Sweet, have I got a deal for you! I have a new in the box with all papers a CZ in 458 Lott. It is unfired and is the brown laminated variety. I bought it in a weak moment from White's Gun Shop in Waterford, (248 363 8381 if you want confirmation, ask for Gerry or Paul).

I will sell it to you for $800 which is less than what I paid for it. Since we live 5 miles apart delivery and such won't be a problem. Not only will you have a good big bore, you will also have confirmation that you do indeed have it.

What say you?

Matt,
Fair enough. Before you hand it over, though, ask him, in front of witnesses, is there ANY reason that he can not own a firearm.

and, of course, meet him at a public range and let him shoot his new toy.

Mr. Norman,

Thank you for the gratious offer, however I don't like laminated stocks.

Besides all that, I have my eye on a 458 Win mag, it is out-of-state though. If I do get one it should happen within the next two months.

Thanks again for the offer.

Matt,

Why are you selling it for less than you paid for? You have shot it haven't you? If you haven't shot it why?

I can help with sighting it in for you if shooting from the bench is tiresome, and the reason you are thinking of getting rid of it. I would not think that recoil would be too aweful bad. although the LOP is too short for me on a stock CZ550, and I would assume for you as well since we are of similar size. Have been out to Pontiac Lake since they reopened? It is far nicer and busier than it used to be!

I wanted to sell it (soon), as there was something at the Novi Gun Show that caught me eye, (I have sold it). And yes, I've shot at Pontiac Lake since it re-opened and it sure does get busy this time of year.

Matt,

What did you see at a gun show in Novi, which would cause you to sell a new rifle for a loss? By the way, I was at Cabelas this afternoon and they have an American stocked CZ550 in 458 Lott for $650, it is the plain walnut though not laminated.

Well since I sold my 50 Beowulf (and have some money burning a hole in my pocket), and I really really want to be a big bore shooter (hence my continous BSing here and made up stories) I figured I would ask for some advise.

If I were to buy one big bore caliber, and keep in mind I had troubles with the 50 Beowulf's recoil, that would work for everything a big bore should be used for, what should I get? I am thinking that the 458 Win mag would be the "best" fit, but I really want to know all of your opinions. Recoil does bother me, I guess I am a wimp, but I want something 0.4" diameter or bigger (to me that where the big bore begins not .375").

I am serious this time! I am truly sick of being exposed as the pathetic wannabe, poser, ASS_CLOWN that I all to frequently am. I WANT TO BE LEGIT!

Thanks for the advise.

AC;before you get swamped with replies about nostalgic calibres, which I also love,my "thoughtful" choice was the 416 Taylor using 458 cases.

Spend the money from the proceeds of your rifle sale on therapy and medication. You need to deal with your multiple personality disorder more than you need another firearm right now. People like you really shouldn't own firearms anyway, Look at how irresponsible and antisocial you've been with a keyboard and Internet connection. Now you want advice on buying a gun? Ass Clown, you shouldn't own a gun! You have mental issues that need dealt with first. They make pills now that will make those voices in your head go away. Go get some!

I recommend you do 2 things. First change your name...
Second, get a 458 Win Mag. The 458 is the BEST first big bore, for the following reasons.
Brass and bullets are inexpensive, so you can shoot it a lot.
There are many bullets avialable that are suitable for 45/70 and 45/70 plus P velocities for plinking and huning big game. Loads at these velocitiew are pleasant to shoot. Making the rifle something you can get a lot of use out of. I would be sure the rifle has good iron sights and a scope in QD mounts so you could have fun with each sight system.
You can always shoot a few full power loads whenever the mood strikes you.
I have a friend that has a CZ in 375 that shoots real good.

George,

I hope your wife is doing better! She has been in our prayers.

Regarding this thread, why yes we are. After the disrespectful treatment I received from the gentlemen names in the subject header of this thread, I figure a little "ASS CLOWNERY" was in order.

I appreciate all the legitimate replies to this thread, and please keep them coming. You should check out the thread on Woodleigh bullets for hog hunting (or something like that), by Jefferydenmark. I posted a picture of a 270 Win can do to an elk at 250 yards! Those 270 are MIGHTLY impressive, that is all I have to say about it.

What wagon? Hey, what do wagons have to do with big bore rifle selections anyway?

By the way, wagons scare me so I try REAL hard to avoid them.

What do you all think of this rifle? It is a M700 from the Custom shop chambered in 458 Win mag. It is at Cabelas for $995.

I think it looks like a real nice DGR, and affordable too! The wood is beautiful and properly laid out, which to me is the most important thing after reliable feeding. I have never known a M700 which did not feed reliably.

I have known of several Rem 700's in belted magnums that would not feed. In fact the only factory belted mag rifles that I have NEVER had feeding problems with are Blaser R-93's [not currently made in 458, but avaialable in 416 REM, also a good caliber] and Weatherby's. I have been shooting a Weatherby DGR in 458 quite a bit with out problem.

Do not get a push feed DGR get a Ruger or CZ they are great rifles.
Get a .458 LOTT You can always load it down if you think that the recoil is too stiff.

Cheers,
