I haven't worked with this combo BUT I would suggest extreme mag powders, some of the 50bmg surplus would work, and lead gas checked bullets. and federal 215 mag primers You want a FULL case, if possible btw, 2400 works wonders on hogs jeffe

Ed Excellent Idea. These loads are the starting loads from the Hornady reloading book fourth edition. All show a velocity of 2100fps. IMR4350 83.7gr IMR4831 87.7gr. RL-22 88.9gr. IMR7828 94.1gr. Primer was Federal 215, case Federal, BARREL 24" RIFLE Dakota Arms M76. Hope this helps. Hogs really taste good! Where in Texas are you hunting hogs?

Great, thanks. I have a friend that absolutely detests hogs on his ranch just outside Campwood. Sure makes for some fun times during the off-season. Our last trip there netted a couple of tasty 100 #'ers that my young boys took with a 250 Savage and one just over 200# that I took with my Ugarthechea 12 gauge SxS slug gun. Frankly, I enjoy the hog hunting more than the whitetail hunting... Jeffe, I see you live in Porter. I am just a hair south of you in Kingwood. Wouldn't mind hooking up sometime. Where do you shoot?

Ed If you find that the Hornady 400's do not expand enough on the pigs, get some www.hawkbullets.com Their 400gr .025jkt or .030jkt .416 diameter bullets should open up nicely.

Ed, Would love to. I shoot at carters (when i have to) and lake houston gun club, where i prefer. i HATE thunder range on 1314. The 416 sp hornady's are just all you need for hogs, as both are my favorite ways to spend time in the woods. i've got about 500-750 of em... i bought 500 in a blemish sale jeffe
