Well folks, I booked with Russell Selle, San Miguel Adventures for a 14 day hunt in Benin with Club Faune in January 2008 for everything but lion (they are booked out until 2010). Looking to hunt roan, harnessed bushbuck, red flanked duiker, western Bubal hartebeest, western bush duiker, Nagor reedbuck and oribi. Oh yea and NW savannah buffalo...

I understand they are somewhat smaller than ol' syncerus caffer... my dilemma, should I take my time tested Searcy .375H&H with the 300 grain Swift A-Frame load or take my virgin Kizler built 9.3x62 shooting Lapua naturalis 285 grainers?

I would like to break in my 9.3 and it is a light well-balanced rifle with a Zeiss 2.5x8 Conquest... but my old .375 has taken buff in Tanzania and bunches of other game all over Africa...

What would you do if you couldn't take both?

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

if i couldn't take both i'd take the 375, but i'd sure want to take both. i'm just not a believer to shooting buff with smaller guns.

I'm with Butch. A .375H&H w/300gr. Swifts will kill everything on your list from any angle.

I would try to take both...
But if you can take only one take the one you want to hunt with the most. I have used my 9,3x74R double quite a bit and I can do ANYTHING with it I can do with a 375 H&H.

I would take a few solids, the 286gr Woodleighs have worked great for me.

9,3x62...not even a close one there. If those german/boer settlers could do it a hundred years ago with one you can too!
