HugluBarnes XLC .375, 235 grain?
Gents,
I have stumbled across some discontinued XLC bullets and wonder if they are good, or if the moly will make it hard to clean the gun as all other bullets I use are without moly?
Are they worth the time and effort?
Sincerely
Daniel

prof242The XLC coating is not moly, but a type of polymer coating designed to reduce/eliminate the problems of fouling with the original X bullets. It worked to a degree, but was an additional step and cost to manufacturing. Accuracy depended on the rifle. Some shot better with the original and some shot better with the XLC. The Triple X was a great improvement over either of the earlier bullets.
I've shot all thre types. The XLC will provide you with good service, then go to the triple X.

HugluOk, thanks!
It was hard to get info on it since it is discontinued. Will see if I can get hold of some to test then.
Sincerely
Daniel
I shot quite a few of the 30 caliber XLC's and found they worked great, BUT, there seemed to be a fouling curve in the two rifles I shot them through. With a clean barrel it took about 4 shots to "season" the barrel and then I got about 8 to 12 good shots before groups started opening up. For reference groups went from 1 moa or less to 3 moa or more at 200 yards. That said, each barrel will probably react a little differently to that coating. Since then I've had more consistent luck with TSX's. If your rifle shoots'm then let'r rip. They work just like the rest of the X's.
