It looks as if I'll be picking up one extra a from
someone not wanting one now, as he has put the effort
in another gun. And I'll get it without a firing pin,
as I made my own , that I switch back and forth
between the 700 and 585 on my same action.
The big case needs a little more protrusion, so pin
is different length. They had extra cocking pieces
and I bought extra heavy spring from Wolff
to use for the pin that impacts BMG primers, so I just
change them over in couple minutes.I can change from one
to the other, barrel and all in 20 minutes.ED

I am with Rich on this one. The money was paid long ago and I don't miss it now. I have faith in what Jeff is trying to accomplish. Jeff clearly has a vested interest in seeing the PH thru to delivery...one much larger than any of us for sure.

twodog,

I would send/call that thought to him. I already did, heh-heh; so you are only one behind that option. I would think Jeff would go for adding ones at the old price if anyone is silly enough to drop out now.

Rich

Wasn't the original deal that the tooling and parts would be investor funded? That the cards would be charged when parts production started?
Did Jeff make a mistake? Yes, he paid up front IIRC. Guaranteed, if he had not paid ahead up front; this company would have moved Heaven and Earth to get those parts to him and get a check.

IMHO, if you haven't paid for one of these yet, it's not your money, find something else to do.
If you made the outlay, keep the faith.

I have paid for two of these damn things. We are not launching the space shuttle. Call Dave Kiff. Tell him what you need and I feel pretty confident he can get this handled in a short amount of time.

I don't have a PH on order....

I'm a doctor in Michigan, and a lot of my patients work for companies that supply parts to furniture, auto, and aerospace industries.

When I ask them what they make, they say "if it's made out of steel we can make it". Every year or 2 the design changes, they are used to making different things.

I've had a $8500 custom rifle on order since Nov 2006, and don't understand why they can't make the thing. The suppliers in Michigan would love the business, all they need is a CAD CAM program to tell them what to make.

Jim,
There are lot of places that could manufacture a receiver with CAD drawings. I don't think the volume is such that they would be interested at a price that they could be sold for. You would need a firearms manufacturing license from the BATF and the liability insurance for a firearms manufacturer is about like malpractice insurance. Your guys would need a wealthy backer or a group to fund the start up.
There are 4-6 people doing the Remington clones now at a price of $650-$1000. I sure wouldn't to invest any of my funds into a venture like that, though I wish them success.

I understand about the receivers and licenses. I thought the PH needed firing pins.

Yes the firing pins. If any one here in MI
know any guys or companies here in this state,
that could do it put a bug in their ear
to contact MRC.Ed

PERSONAL OPINION, just and only that!

I suggested that they talk with Wayne at AHR last year about parts. Obviously, he is able to get his trigger and ancillary parts at a cost-effective price. When I visited Wayne and his family in 2008 he took me along to see the guys that make his parts. Big shop, high-$$$ CNC machinery, and very highly skilled workers who are gun guys. The one guy even rides a Harley. Wayne showed the guy what he wanted on the safety, and that machinist was making changes on the fly and handing Wayne modified pieces one at a time every couple minutes until he had it.

Jeff, we talked on the phone last June/July, remember? Call Wayne.

Rich
I don't know everything about anything, but I DO know lots of skilled people who know everything about one thing!

Thursday or Friday, I left a message for Jeff with MRC stating I would be glad to help out with machining firing pins.

No calls yet. Didn't really expect one.

So clearly at least two good sources of the necessary parts - Rusty himself and Rich's suggestion. In addition, there is Jim in MI and a quick review of the designers/inventors here would identify a few others who might be enlisted or at least asked (RGB and Macifej come to mind). Of course Dr. Jim in MI is right on - there are many other resources around.

My credit card has been charged, the balance paid and I have other big bores with which to play so I am OK with waiting. In fact, my stainless steel PH is probably still only a dream.

Nevertheless, crapstorm or otherwise (and I have had this precise event unfold in my own life more than once), find alternatives, fix the problem then go back and get what you can out of those who failed to do their job originally. You might not get all or even most of the original investment but you WILL get satisfied customers who become repeat customers and spread the word and your business. Was true when I was a roofer in a family business and is just as true today.

A future 550 mag owner here is a little disappointed to hear of a another delay.
If I remember right without finding the paper work I am paying $940.00 for mine.
I also have invested in a 550 barrel and components to load for it. I don't plan
to ask for a refund as there are few places I can turn to to replace the PH without
a lot of additional expense. Over a barrel comes to mind at this time. I do hope for
all of us that Jeff is able to get his parts. I don't think it would be asking to
much for MRC and Jeff to keep us updated on this forum as to his progress. I am
sure we would greatly appreciate such a courtesy on his part. I myself don't want
an apology for some one else dropping the ball. I just want to finish my project
so I can go kill something.:-)

Again, guys I do apologize for not beeing on here everyday...I can't be, I have to much other stuff to do. I have two different things going on with the firing pins which is good news. 1. I was finally able to contact the company that purchased the assets of the company that went out of business and I am hoping to have things worked out so I can have those parts to me soon. and 2. I have another company that is supposed to have a 1st article to me within the next week. So if I get the first parts I will have enough to cover everyone's backorders while I am waiting for the new company to get producing new ones. I thank those of you who have called in about wanting to make some parts and I was not blowing you off, it's just that I have been in negotiations about all of thise with others and been on the phone what seems like non-stop for 6 months. We ARE getting closer guys.

I sent Jeff an Email last night and he responded. As well, he is here. I think he feels like a gerbil in the wheel cage some days.
They were sooooooooooo close. Imagine how this sets from behind his desk. You are rounding third base, heading home to the cheers of the home crowd; and then something you thought you had nailed... Comes apart in bankruptcy court. Some F-tard has your stuff and wants you to bend over and supply your own vaseline. They got the 40 grit condoms. Then the court says "skip the vaseline...".

Hang with the man guys

EXCELLENT NEWS!

Jeff - keep us posted either here or through Rich. I don't feel the need to add myself to the list of people inundating you with emails.

Whether good or bad news, I'd rather hear it than imagine it.

Thank you,
Paul

Yepper! Imagination is sooooo much worse than reality in deals like this.
I don't presume to speak for Jeff. I just sent him a short Email and he took a minute to respond to me personally, and here to you all.

I still have that offer open for those of you too impatient to wait for these magnificent actions. I have a bit better perspective, having actually held one in my hands at SCI Reno at Ryan Breeding's booth. It's pretty sweet, and I think Boomie posted a picture of it with some of his 577 3" BME's in the magazine. Fit like an eighteen year old.
I am bullish on these actions folks!!

Have zero tolerance for any 'smith who accepts a persons money and then doesnt deliver. Being in a similar situation a few years ago I would demand my money back and find a maker who is trustworthy.
Hope the rifle isnt a Hein!

My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.
