What Dewey rod do I need for 375 H&H? Will the 35 do or do I need the next one up? If it is the next one up it seems to be different, can anybody explaine. Thanks.

To the best of my knowledge you'd get a nylon coated 35 and up caliber rod. These are designed for 35-45 calibers and come in many lengths from 12" up. I'm unfamiliar w/ a larger centerfire nylon coated rod other than the 50caliber version. The one smaller, 27 and up is designed for 27-34 calibers and would flex too much in a 375 bore. Other than my M40, I no longer push a rod through any of my hunting rifles. I pull a coated Otis cable thru w/ an appropriate delrin bore guide over the cable on the muzzle end. GVA

Follow the link: http://www.otisgun.com/cgistore/store.cgi?page=/new/fca...html&setup=1&cart_id I was issued a kit for the field years back. I liked the ease and convenience and began using it on hunting trips. I'm not a fan of putting brushes or aggressive materials down an expensive barrel and find that pushing a tight patch through a guide, receiver and long barrel on a bolt rifle would flex the Dewey rod too much for my tastes. Pulling a patch by the coated cable through a delrin guide has worked better for me. Otis makes numerous kits that take minimal space and are very handy for basic needs when afield. later, GVA
