I have a Interarms Mark X action and am thinking about building a .425 Express. Does anyone have any experience with this round?

Yes. I have one for which I reload. What would you like to know? Ku-dude

Anything you can tell me. I'm thinking about useing a Lothar Walther barrel 25 inchs long. I'm not sore about a stock. Does A-Square still have head stamped brass? What powder seems to work best with 400gr. bullets?

The brass I have used to avoid fireforming the brass, is to use .458Win Mag Brass. This leaves a neck that is slightly short, but does not seem to impact accuracy and it is much easier to make. You just run a .458 case into the sizing die, and you have a .425 Express case. The powder I find most useful is 4895. I use H4895, but I understand IMR and H 4895 are identical. I have also used RL 15. Most of the bullets that I have used are Barnes bullets because of their availability. Velocities are @ 2300 fps with 400 gr bullets. Barnes also makes a 350 grain bullet. I worked up some loads with these also using the same powders. There is a 416 Taylor page, and because of the similarities in the two cartridges, I believe he may have some loading data. Use one of the search engines and look for .416 Taylor. Hope this helps. I'll look around for some more information if you would like. Ku-dude

There's load data for this cartridge on my webpage. It's certainly a neat idea, I occasionally think about doing the 300 Win Mag case with a .416 bullets instead. There'a a picture of a .416/300 Win Mag (416 Express?) on my webpage here. (plus the load data...) http://www.geocities.com/bw_99835/page18.htm ------------------

Ku-Dude, I wouldn't say H4895 and IMR4895 are identical, they are similar. I use h4895 in my 375, and get great results, it doesn't seem to like IMR though. Could be just the powder I have, but I know most manuals give different charges for these two. Just an observation.

I also use H4895 and the manuals do post different data for them, but I read recently that they were "as close as different lots of the same powder." Someone is always "saying" something about powders. I personally find H to be a bit slower, which makes it better for my applications.
