Sounds like the old Pumkin Ball load that was a favorite with the deer hunters down here in the 60's and 70's,,not much on distance but inside of 40 yards it hit them hard and they didn't go far, if at all | |||

I think that in general, a .690 RB is preferred in that application. I use the .735 and .715 in my Bess, but I've also used the .690. If you're just trying to save a buck, you can buy slugs and RBs pretty cheap at Ballistic Products. | |||
