http://www.armureriejeannot.com/chapuis_express_juxtaposés.htm Just toying with the idea of this, not to make a buck, but to maybe get one myself. Seems G&H will handle the importation of up to three rifles from abroad for $500 plus shipping, ins., and possible 11% excise tax. Anyone else find the idea of a 3000 Euro double appealing? Granted we are talking about extractors and no cheekpiece but I may be able to deal with that if the price is right. Anyone up for this? Drop me a PM and I will contact G&H. I will be in the US this December/Jan and can handle other logistics then. Best, John

John as you know I have a Chapuis. My rifle is the "American" imported model of the lowest grade. It has no cheekpiece but does have ejectors. The stock is perfect for a scope, but I have to cheek it a bit hard for iron sights, but that is not a problem. The rifle handles ahd hunts perfect. It is my favorite rifle under 40 cal. I have found the 9,3x74R to be an excellent cartridge. I have taken quite a bit of game with my 9,3, beaver, bobcat, coyote, skunk, armidillo, turkeys, deer, wild pigs, black bear, kilpspringer, baboon, impala [11], kudu, waterbuck, jackel, and civet cat. I am going to try ans shot a crop raiding bull and/or a cow elephant with it this March in Zim. I have killed deer and pigs with 232 gr Vulcans as well as various 285/286 grain bullets. One deer was killed with a 293 TUG. All other game was taken with 285/286 grain bullets, which I think is perfect for the 9,3. John, just be sure the doubles you order already has the rib precut for the scope mount. I have seen some European models that have a solid rib. The 9,3 double really comes into its own with a scope. I have probably taken more game with iron sights but the scope enables me to take game in low light and as far away as 300 yards. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

Guess that means you won't take 3000 Euros for it? How are things with you Tony? Hope all is well. Best, John

No time for shows....The new 8-bore front stuffer and I got a date with a Bison in The Yukon. You booked for Zim again any time soon? A six or seven day cow ele hunt might be the next task for the smoke-pole. Best, John

John, I am going back to Zim for a 31 day hunt in March 2006. The plan is to hunt 2 trophy bull elephants, 4 to 6 bull crop raiders, 5 cow elephants, 2 buff bull, hippo, crock, leopard and what ever else gets in the way [ie plains game]. Do not know if lion will be avialable yet. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

That sounds like a dream hunt. Best of luck! "Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.
