Cool Big Grin Razzer Wink

...a Gun-Lovin' YANKEE , that's who~~~!

For FUN --- (which is the reason we're ALL here, right?) --- I thought I'd put up a couple of pix.
I don't have all the ones that were lost on the hosting site, nor do I have my more current ones available yet, but I scrounged a few from various sources and decided to put them up for the hell of it!
While not exactly BIG BORE related, I'll volunteer my internet persona to make it fit the TOPIC... beer
Here we go:

My 1st BIG GAME rifle...
Remington 700 / 7mm Rem.Mag. / Bell&Carlson Premier Thumbhole Sporter stock / Leupold Vari-X III 4.5-14x40

It felt right the first time I held it at the Big5 store.
When I torched off the first round, I knew I LOVED THIS GUN.
When I put the Bell&Carlson stock on it, WOW. Perfect.
Because I became so familiar with this platform, I decided to continue with the Remington 700 collection.

So, I got the 700 POLICE & XP-100, in .308 & .223, respectively.
Seemed like the best progression for my other 'collectibles'.

I decided to 'enhance' the 700 POLICE and make it both lighter and easier to handle in my 'neck of the woods'...adding the Hogue stock.
The Bushmaster V-MATCH 24 got the Hogue stock/grip.

Since I already had a Bushmaster Dissipator Carbine on hand, replete with removable sights/cheekpiece, the XP-100R was a nice addition as a concealable LONG RANGE PISTOL.
The DISSIPATOR serves as the 1st UNIT...the FIRST GUN I would grab outta the safe in the 'classic' SHTF scenario.

Then again, IF I were forced to maintain a position and needed a lot of firepower to hold down the 'enemy', this would be FUN to use:
120-rounds of FUN!!! Big Grin.

OK, all that said and done, I'm stuck between the 700 / .375 RUM & the Marlin 1895 .45-70 as my 'BIG BORES'.
Now, I need a true BIG BORE.
Therein lies the rub...

A CZ 550 would work nicely into the scheme of things, but the cartridge selection...oh, what should it be?

BM007, Wink
Since your .375 is a pushfeed AND is for a rebated-rim cartridge, you have a good selection to choose from at CZ:

.375 H&H (easy to turn into a .375 Wby that will match the factory .375 RUM ammo in FPS, but exceed it in versatility and function in the rifle)

.416 Rigby

.404 Jeffery: The one that will need the least work to feed the slickest.

.458 WinMag

.458 Lott

.505 Gibbs: The one that will need the most work ... in many aspects!

Nice guns. As for a big bore rifle, I would ask my self "What is it FOR".
The Marlin is a great rifle for close in USA hunting. The 375 [not a big bore IMHO] is a great all round hunting rifle.
However IMHO the BEST big bore rifle for fun shooting AND use for DG is a 458 Win Mag or a 458 Lott.
With 350 grain bullets loaded properly they are great plinking and deer/pig rifles. With 400/450 grain bullets a better BIG bear rifle is hard to find, and of course in Africa 500 grain bullets are the way to go.
Get a 458, you will love it thumb.

I agree with what Tony said, except for the 458 Winnie part. Just skip it and go straight to the Lott. Greater veratilaty and more potental Hp. For a nice looking usable rifle straight out of the box, I would look at the Ruger RSM.

PS: Even though the 45-70 shoot the same dia. bullets as the 450NEs and 458Mags, it is not and never will be a big bore. Not enough horse power.
