Hey Men,

What are you're opinions of Ed Brown's new type of CRF actions? I have seen an article or two regarding his "704" actions, but would like your thoughts.

I'd be curious about the asking price for these actions?
I like the bolt release
I like the floorplate release
And of course you gotta love the Win M70 safety
Bottom metal looks good

I don't particularly like fluting on the bolt but I don't hate it
I wish the recoil lug was integral rather than an add on type I don't like the added on look.

Some folks won't admit that it is a real controlled feed cuz the "claw" is missing!

Overall I like it well enough.

But you probably wanted to hear from someone that has one rather than an opinion based on looking at a picture!

I don’t have one of their CRF, however I have an Ed Brown .375 H&H with a pushfeed action, from all of my custom guns it is one of my preferred rifles, very accurate, well balanced and never had a feeding problem, exceptionally smooth. Another important factor you do not have to wait a long time to receive your rifle more or less 12 weeks. They make an excellent American product.

Looks like one of the winchester CRPF actions without the integral recoil lug. Also bears a striking resemblence to the savage CRF action. I'm sure it's a bit better finished than either, but all in all it doesn't interest me in the least.

I don't like fluted bolts- maybe they would hold one out unfluted if you asked them when ordering.

I dunno. Seems like he just wanted to create something just for the sake of doing it. I am certaintly not a gunsmith but it looks flimsy.


My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

Yeah, looks like he "borrowed" a lot from Winchester's Controlled Round Push Feed action. I like it when people give credit where credit is due.

You know, I had forgotten about Winchester's CRPF. They do seem alike now that you mention it.
