i posted this on the african board as well but thought the big bore guys would also like to see this.

i finaly got my 500 nitro express in today i got her all nice and clean and ready to go to the range tomorro

i leave for botswana on the 26th of this month for my elephant hunt man i cant wait.

here is a pic of both of my rifles

700nitro on top
500 nitro on bottom

Nice loking rifles. I am curious to hear the difference in the recoil between the 500 and the 600. Let us know after you shoot the 500. Question... Since your 700 is a under lever did you consider getting your 500 in the same style?

Good luck friend-- Are you using factory loads in 700 or
do you reload, and if you reload what loads.Ed.

i use handloads only my load for the 700 nitro is as follows

1000 fmj
case searcy 3.499"
160 grains of rel 15 and a 1" long foam wad on powder(takes up all air space

veloisty is 2000 out of 25" barrels.

Must be left handed by the looks of the stocks. Good to see another lefty out there Was there any more difficulty in getting these over RH versions of the same?

yes i took a nice 250 pounder last week he folded up like the fist of thor himself camith downith upon his head

and no he didnt blow up like a sausage in a microwave.

shoulder heart shot at a paced off 25 yards the bullet exited and struck a 2" dia tree blowing 80% of the dia to tooth picks needless to say the hog and the small tree behind it got cooked.
