before placing the order for custom rifle I'm thinking to order octagonal barrel but people said that it is wrong because of price and accuracy. What is your opinion? Never buy your gun from "Hendersot's sporting goods inc."

If the barrel is stress-relieved after machining, there is no reason its shape would affect accuracy. Cost? Only you can answer whether the barrel costs too much. George

The way I understand it, a octagonal barrel has the same rigidity as a fluted barrel, perhaps more. Imagine a sporter barrel plus flutes within the octagonal shape. Thats what you´´re getting.

well i like octagon barrels. i have had them made by john pell and dan lilja. i have had round barrels cut by story and c&c . they all are capable of moa accuracy or better. everything i hunt is bigger than that so they are accurate enough for me. as george said " only you can answer whether the barrel costs to much"

Have a Rem 40XB-BR that I had octagoned for prairie dog shooting out here. Wanted to lower the weight a bit. Accuracy with my standard .223 load and 40gr V-Max, using military cases, is .5" +or- depending on me. Not bad for a factory (albeit a 40X)rifle and hunting loads. .395 Family Member DRSS, po' boy member Political correctness is nothing but liberal enforced censorship
