Lovely rifle, how long is the barrel and does it have iron sights?

I'm not sure on the barrel length. I suspect 22" or 24". No iron sights but will have before delivery.

Very nice rifle but it looks like someone put the bolt on the wrong side. Razzer

Beautiful rifle. And I thought that I was the only person that loved the Springfield action. Wink

Hey Bwana,

I did a search on this, and thought I'd resurrect it and ask for pictures of the LH conversion.

Thanks,

Steve

Prettiest abortion I have ever seen, and it doesn't look like there were any survivors!

I think it's a nice rifle, but it would have been easier and cheaper to use a left hand M70.

Very nice rifle.
I'd like to see more pictures!
I'm a big fan of Springfields and love to see any pictures of them done nicely, this one looks nice.

D99 what the hell are you talking about?
abortion?
It would be "easier" to buy an off the shelf M70 but it doesn't stop a lot of folks from spending a lot of money on old Mausers either!

Bwana,

if it hasn't left the US already, to satisfy those asking for more pics why don't you just have it sent to me, I can take some pictures for you, test it thoroughly and then forward on Big Grin

So much time has passed since my post that I totally forgot I had even done so!

a client offered me a rifle by his gunsmith. I asked for a 458 Lott caliber. He said his gunsmith was a fan of the '03 action and would build one based on that action. Never having heard of such an action used for a LH conversion i researched, inquired with others and eventually recommended to the client the use of an M70 action for obvious reasons. The gunsmith from Florida said he would stick to the 03. It was a gift so who was I to argue?

The gun is with me as of 3 weeks. I've not test fired it yet. I'm not confident with the working of the action with ammo in it. I'm experiencing problems - which i expected - with jamming but was told to expect that with some rounds. I'm waiting to get a hold of some different brands of Lott ammo and try again but not much hope. The rifle is indeed beautiful. It fits me great, is finished really well, has a great looking case to go with it, etc but does have feeding problems.

Not sure if they will be resolved but will keep trying until all solutions have been exhausted.

A bit of a dissapointment so far.

It looks a little heavy with that barrel contour. The action looks cheap compared to the stock. The stock is too big and bulky looking,it reminds me of a Sako stock.Get rid of it and take your time and research for the rifle YOU really want.Great Caliber. That case is good for nothing.
