I was going to wait until I could get my hands on a Ruger Hawkeye Alaskan, but I got sick of waiting. I had the Encore action just sitting around so this seemed like a good use for it.

It's a 26" barrel with a Boyds Peppered laminate stock, and a Leupold M8 4x scope.

This will probably become my black bear/elk rifle. More than anything, I just wanted something different.

I am really surprised by how light the recoil is. I have only played with some 270 gr bullets and a few different powders so far. But recoil doesn't seem that much worse than heavy loads from my 338-06 which weighs the same as the 375 at about 8#.

That is a great little rifle - I've had a 375 H&H Encore for 3 years.

It's a great Hog rifle and drops Whitetails quite well.

Great Choice. BOOM
