Lead bullets from a high pressure, large capacity case???
Would it cause great leading of a barrel to use use lead bullets from a 14.5 Russian case firing a 800-900 grain bullet at 3000-3200fps. If not would a copper gas check be in order?

Any opinions?

yes, it would cause leading...

in fact, EVERY lead shot fired causes leading, and the faster you go, the heavier each shot leads....

i run cast fast... but fast for cast is 2300, and that's a specialty casting, VERY VERY hard cast....

sure.. a copper JACKET would let you go faster... but not just a gas check!!

For all practical purposes, plain base lead bullets are limited to about 1600fps. I know people who have pushed them faster w/o leading, but accuracy quickly goes south, regardless of alloy.

Gas check bullets can be pushed faster, but are still limited to 2200 or 2400 fps.

You can play with alloy, lube, diameter, powder type, etc. and exceed these limits in certain guns. But they are the exception.

I do have several cast bullet loads that do not lead AT ALL. It is possible, but these loads are VERY mild compared to what you suggest.
