This was the second version and I think not older than 1996.

What I am looking for is a painting of a cape buffalo. He is on a full frontal charge and wounded in his right shoulder. The colors are greens and browns... He has snot coming from his nose. I am reasonably sure that it came from that big bore special... if I can find the artist and or name of the print that is what I am after.

Thanks

I guess I missed this one... I was nearly positive it come from that issue. Does that issue's introduction talk about this issue being the second big bore special? They did that two times a few years apart.

Aaron:
Found the same issue that sjr has and also could not find what you described. Could it have been the first issue?

I have two editions.
The original one was in 1983: "Volume 1, Number 1, Big Bore Rifles, Guns and Ammo Action Series 1983"
No such painting there either.
Second edition had "Display until Feb 14, 1995" on the cover: Big-Bore Rifles
Interesting that a hyphen was added to the title of the second edition. nilly
Would sure like to find a peek at such a painting.
I hope "sumbuddy who know" ... to borrow a phrase from that multilinguistic Viking member whose handle is "Overkill" ...
will post a clue as to where to find it.

I just checked, and I was way off. I too have the original 193 Vol 1 No 1. The copyright states that the action series was published twice a year. I have to assume that there were other titles bbesides the Big Bore.

One interesting thing was that the original was authored entirely by Jack Lott, even though it is in a magazine format. It is however divided into chapters like a book.

I read that magazine until it was falling apart. The painting I thought came from there obvously not from there.

It took up a page and a half as I remember... but the buffalo took up most of the one page. It was a full on frontal charge with snot flinging out of his nose and dust being kicked up by his hoofs with a red spot from a wound on his front shoulder. He had hate in his eyes. it was really a great painting.
