Does anyone know how fast an API M8,or simular slug has to be going to flash on a hard target like steel or rock? thanks SS

SS, Welcome to the forums... and it doesn't have to be going very fast, at all. Remember, a "flint and steel" fire starter just requires a scraping motion to elicit sparks, and a good, strong pressure, at ~100 to 200 fps will light most fires. You hit a rock with a steel jacket 50? jeffe

Thanks Jeffeosso We have a lot of rocks and steel targets in the backstop of our range and have hit them with the 50 M2 Browning-alot but I plan on building a 50 low velocity shoulder fired toy and was not sure how fast (or slow) the API had to be going to WOW the crowd. SS
