What was the actual velocity of the earliest 375 H&H factory loads? Thanks Matt FISH!! Heed the words of Winston Smith in Orwell's 1984: "Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right."

According to this source: https://revivaler.com/375-holland-holland-magnum/ "The .375 Holland & Holland Magnum was originally offered in three bullet weights: a 235gn pointed bullet ahead of 62gn of Cordite traveling at 2,800fps, a 270gn bullet with 61gn Cordite behind it for a velocity of 2650fps, and a 300gn bullet driven by 58gn Cordite to a velocity of 2500fps."

A 300 gr. Silvertip around 1950 thru the first chronograph I ever played with was 2410 average in a 25 in. Win. 70. as I recall, Today a handload of a 300 gr. bullet at 2400 to 2500 is still the best performance you will get on live DG IMO..but the caliber it self is capable of 2600 fps plus but that tends to tear up bullets and/or slows down penetration.
