If it's a Mauser 98 it's a CRF. Is this a trick question? _________________________________ AR, where the hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history become the nattering nabobs of negativisim.

NO, maybe a stupid one. I just purchased a Santa Barbara action in 416 Taylor. I ask someone from another board this question and did not get an answer other than it was of the type I mentioned i e Mauser 98 commercial action. It dosen't hurt to try and increase ones knowledge no matter how late in life it may be.

Die or Jagter, there are no stupid questions on this forum, just questions for which you don't yet have the answer. But to add to my answer, the Mauser 98 is pretty much the standard by which all CRF actions are judged. There are quite a few versions of the Mauser claw extractor action built by others, not all have all of the features of the Mauser 98, some are virtual clones. It is a vast subject and there are some very knowledgeable people on this forum on this particular topic, and I don't count myself among them. You will undoubtedly get some answers that deal precisely with the Santa Barbara action, which I have never examined. If you speak Spanish here is a link that gives the prices as practiced by at least one dealer in Spain (I think) http://www.torres-spain.com/Rifles_santabarbara.html _________________________________ AR, where the hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history become the nattering nabobs of negativisim.
