I am having a 600 double built and need to supply the ammo I want it regulated to. My friends Verney Carron is regulated to 120gr RE15 with a foam wad and I was thinking that would be a good load to regulate it to so I would have a back up supply of ammo down the street but I dislike loading with foam. What loads are you guys using? I need to decide quickly and no, I have not chronographed the RE15 load so I have no idea what the velocity is but want something in the range of 1850-1950fps on the 900 gr Woodleigh softpoint. Matthew, Did someone Stateside re-regulate it with that load? Verney-Carron will only regulate with factory ammo available to them in France - that means either Kynoch of WR in 600NE. Does he mean that it shoots that load as well as it does the stuff with which it had been originally regulated? I will PM you some loads later today that will get you around the velocity you want in that caliber with that bullet and not require filler of any type. Good luck and let's see some photos when it is done. It was not reregulated, it just shoots that load very well and is very comfortable to shoot. Thanks, I will look for the PM. Matthew

One other suggestion: One of the most fun projectiles to shoot are Robgunbuilder's 718 grain brass "Crayola tips" (my name for them since that's exactly what they look like). Since they are nearly 200g lighter, loading them over the same type and amount of powder results in a fun plinker. I have been lucky enough that both of my V-C 600NEs shoot that load to the same POA as the bigger pills. See if Rob's son has done a run of them lately and if he has any available. Matthewx: For many years now I shoot 160 grains of IMR 4831 to equal 1900 fps in my 26" barreled Wilkes (made 1914). 110-grain velocity was 1950 fps in a 28-inch barrel and with the 26" I attain 1900--which is right as to accuracy and regulated velocity with Woodleigh soft nose. I shoot 5 gains less with Woodleigh solids. Recoil is more than with RL 15 but the IMR fills the case to the base of the bullet and no filler is needed. I use filler with reduced loads of IMR 4831 and lead bullets for practice shooting and for friends who want to say they shot a .600 but are too girly-mannish to shoot a full house load. Enjoy your .600! Cal PS. If it's comfortable to shoot--it's too slow!! _______________________________ Cal Pappas, Willow, Alaska www.CalPappas.com www.CalPappas.blogspot.com 1994 Zimbabwe 1997 Zimbabwe 1998 Zimbabwe 1999 Zimbabwe 1999 Namibia, Botswana, Zambia--vacation 2000 Australia 2002 South Africa 2003 South Africa 2003 Zimbabwe 2005 South Africa 2005 Zimbabwe 2006 Tanzania 2006 Zimbabwe--vacation 2007 Zimbabwe--vacation 2008 Zimbabwe 2012 Australia 2013 South Africa 2013 Zimbabwe 2013 Australia 2016 Zimbabwe 2017 Zimbabwe 2018 South Africa 2018 Zimbabwe--vacation 2019 South Africa 2019 Botswana 2019 Zimbabwe vacation 2021 South Africa 2021 South Africa (2nd hunt a month later) ______________________________
