Hi and thanks for all your helpfull tips on my BRNO projekt so far!
I am currently making a new stock for a .458WM and I might make it a Lott later on.
A lot of people here advice to use the Pachmeyer F990 but I dont like the way it looks. I like the look of the red decellerator but I wonder if it is soft enough for a lott. Is the "new" Pachmeyer pad for bigbores mentioned on this board a better choise?
I need to choose because all three pads are of different thickness and i have to adjust the LOP accordingly.
Which one should i go for?
(I´m concerned about the limbsavers apparently "melting".)

Unless you are making a very light weight rifle I would use a decelerator. They work OK and hold up. I have installed on my big bolt rifles the decelerator sporting clays model. It has a small amount of hard rubber on the top which permits the pad to slide when the gun is mounted rather than catch on clothing. The clays shooters use it for a reason!

I have really come to prefer the Limbsaver pads. The fitted pads or the slip on pads both work great (the slip on pads fit surprising well and you do not have to cut the stock down to install). My only knock on them is that they can "stick" to the carpet if you leave them sitting too long in the safe but otherwise they are durable and provide great recoil absorption. I have used on some big bangers with good effect, .416 Rem Mag and .338 Ultra Mag to name a couple.

One other thought, the "melting" notion is a bit overstated. They will stick to the carpet if left sitting too long, but the pad remains in fine shape. Not like they are disintegrating or anything like that.

The dec. will do fine. It made all really tamed my .404j, but nothing could help a 9 1/4#Lott. Eeker

Thank you gentlemen for your advice!
I'll go with the red decellerator then and see how it works.
As it is the thinest of the three mentioned I can always cut the stock and mount a thicker one if I'm not happy.
