Nitro,
Thanks for the input. I had never seen a hammer gun scoped, but wanted the opinion of someone more seasoned in doubles, such as yourself.

I have one of the Pedersolis that has Warne QD rings & bases, with a Weaver 2x scope with a German post and crosshair reticle! The rifle has been re-chambered to 458 RCBS, and is perfect black bear over bait!

Not me.

I just think enjoy a double with hammers for its vintage looks, rather than scope it. Same as a 'vintage' English double. If it wasn't originally scope I think it should stay that way.

On the other hand, a modern Krieghof, Merkel, Searcy etc I would look at scoping especially if the calibre as .416 or less.

Won't work. Trade it to me, and what ever you do, do NOT call Jack Huntington about rechambering it to 450 N2...

I WANT ONE!!!!

I must agree with NitroX, no scope for a hammer double. On the other hand let me know how the rechambering project works out on the Kodiak. I have often thought of doing the same thing but have hear discouraging things about the project (quality of the gun, high priced project, and questionable results) Someone please dispel these rumors, so I can regain my dream of an affordable hammer double!

You may want to listen to Jeffeosso. I had my Kodiak re-chambered to 458 RCBS, and about 10 of those 405 at 2000+ fps is enough for me.

Scoped doubles are awkward for me.

Well I finally did it. Just traded/purchased a Pedersoli Kodiak 45-70 new in the fitted case . It should be here next week... Can't wait!!!
All the threads on chambering these to 450 #2 Nitro has had me working non-stop to get one of these . I'm thinking about getting a couple of merc's and a leather pad when I have the rechamber done. It has satin brown barrels and color case hardened locks and hammers. If I don't like the brown barrels, I will have them blued beyond belief. Opinions welcome on my ideas? I have only seen a small picture of the gun so far, so I don't know for sure yet. What about a quick detachable scope or claw mount? Can this be done in taste? I don't want to bastardize the looks or function of this gun. I have never seen a hammer gun with a scope so I don't know how I feel about it . Thoughts from those who have and use doubles?
Thanks, Ghost
