Well here are pics of my Ruger M77 MkII RSM in 416 Rigby with a Zeiss Conquest 3X-9X 40mm mounted in High Ruger mounts. I apologize though, earlier I had stated that I thought I had some old pics with the Burris scope, I did not. Other close-up: So it can be done. Scott

Did you make the Turn Screws for you Ruger Rings/Mounts or purchase them? They look like a good deal to me.Can you take the scope on and off ect and retain zero?

I hope that Zeiss has lots of eye relief and you know how to hold a gun down under recoil. That combination may look attactive on the surface but in reality could spell " serious eyebrow stitches" under the right/wrong conditions.I had to stitch up a buddy in Africa one time after a particularily nasty scope cut( I'm not that good either). If you crawl the stock or have to shoot quick at game, high mounted scopes are a no no. Get it as low as possible. That's why you don't see DGR's with belled scopes.-Rob

Rob, I use the low ring Talley QD's on my Winchester 458 Lott. These rings are the same ones I used with a Leupold 2.5x's Compact and a Schmidt & Bender 1.5-6x42mm. I didn't care for the Leupold because it had a heavy duplex reticle (covered too much up) and the Lott can reach out a little ways. My first, and only, buffalo was shot at approximately 150 yards. It was as close as we could get. I really like the Schmidt & Bender. It has the #7 reticle. Besides, the marks on my forehead add character.

rws2, I made those thumb nuts myself, and it shows, they were not made in the real shop but at my home using a small lathe, a hacksaw, a tap, and a file. I shall be making a new set someday, which will look better, but for now these work fine. The system returns to zero reliably as well. Robgunbuilder, The Zeiss has a constant 4" of eye relief. Better than any Leupold I am aware of. I use this rifle for elk, primarily, and have no problems with the scope hitting my brow. As a matter of fact, several 'brave' souls at the local range have fired that rifle as shown without suffering any undo damage. One gentlemen even insisted upon holding it like a heavy target rifle, kinda like a kid holds a 22 rimfire, and he didn't get cut by the scope. Actually, the scope stayed a good 1"-2" from his forehead. He did however get hit in the shoulder "damned hard", at least that is how he described it. Scott
