U.S. Weapons Gun Show KC Login/Join

Went to the U.S. Weapons gun show in Kansas City today looking for ammo and a .458 to convert to a Lott. Went outside for a smoke when a gentleman approached me with his first rifle. He explained how he had never owned a rifle before and asked if he had bought the right ammo. Realizing that he had NO experience, I checked the rifle and safety and had a general discussion about gun handling and safety.

In the middle of our conversation one of "Kansas City's Finest" came running out the door! This idiot rent-a-cop is screaming that we can't conduct business outside the building. He was not going to listen to any explaination, as if it was any of his business anyway! The guy I was talking to thanked me for my time and left, after giving the cop a dirty look.

About an hour later I went outside for another smoke before going back to make my purchases. A friend's son was coming in to the show and stopped to talk. He had a 6.5 carcano with him that he had done a nice job rebuilding and he wanted me to see. While looking at the rifle, out comes another rent-a-cop screaming that we could not "buy, sell or barter firearms at this show!" He went on to state that there were people inside which make their living doing this!

Both my friend an I tried to explain that we were just talking and that no "business" was going on. After several minutes of his crap, he left. My parting comment was that I would never come to another U.S. Weapons show again!

The fact is that a new operator is in town called RK shows, and is a class act. U.S. Weapons is feeling the sting and trying to protect it's venders by using rented police muscle. Well, most venders want customers, and this isn't in my opion the way to get them! No laws were broken, and all parties involved had paid the door fee to "buy, sell or trade firearms" as advertised. Just police harassment in the heart of America.

Crash;

I'm curious, was it a "rent-a-cop" as in Acme Security Guard company, or a Kansas City Police officer?

A similar thing went on at the last Tulsa show I attended. The PA system was frequently blasting in no uncertain terms that no gun trading was to go on within 100 feet of the entrance (including the inside of the show unless you were at a table).

It sounds like these Barny Fifes were doing what the promoter TOLD them to do! This is EXACTLY the problem with gun shows across the country today. Gun shows used to be put on by civic organizations, gun clubs etc. Today for a large part they are put on by "promoters". These shows used to be referred to as "Wildcat" shows a few years back.

This is one reason I quit going to gun shows a few years ago. The other is, I find nothing there that I want! A full 99% of the crap they are hawking is cheap Chinese MACHINE GUN KELLY crap. I quite going to these shows when I could walk around the show for two hours, and not see one Browning superposed shotgun, or even one quality hunting rifle, or a table for the cartridge collector, or a COLT collector! Now it's fighting knives, stamped out tin lizzy milatary gang banger crap that looks like it was made by Daisey airrifle Co. The bootjack cop influance is just the latest thing I have no use for!

I guess I'm just getting too old to aprecieate the war surplus type junk made today, or the MAN KILLER theme of the products, I got plenty of that crap in Korea! SOAP BOX IS OPEN!< NEXT!!!

One thing which both saddens and enrages me is the fact that for $20+ and hour you can hire an off duty KCMO policeman to harass anyone you want! Both these guys in my opinion have placed the reputation of their department in jeopardy by their poor judgement and stupidity!

I have to say, the one show that me and my friend Bill attend religiously is the MAAC show in King Of Prussia, PA. They usually have something descent at most of the tables and there's no police b.s. Just wish they'd hold them more often.

I have found that gunshows sponsored by local clubs are usually much better than the commercial ones, at least here in central Florida. I belong to a local club and they put on 3 shows a year and are some of the best I have attended. The amount of side junk is extremely limited and if it isn't gun related they can't get a table. A very limited amount of miltary related items are allowed mostly Mausers. Lots of wheeling and dealing on the floor. I quit going to the commercial shows as they are the biggest bunch of cheap hustlers under one roof I have ever seen (looks more like a Hell's Angels convention).
