Went to the U.S. Weapons gun show in Kansas City today looking for ammo and a .458 to convert to a Lott. Went outside for a smoke when a gentleman approached me with his first rifle. He explained how he had never owned a rifle before and asked if he had bought the right ammo. Realizing that he had NO experience, I checked the rifle and safety and had a general discussion about gun handling and safety.
In the middle of our conversation one of "Kansas City's Finest" came running out the door! This idiot rent-a-cop is screaming that we can't conduct business outside the building. He was not going to listen to any explaination, as if it was any of his business anyway! The guy I was talking to thanked me for my time and left, after giving the cop a dirty look.
About an hour later I went outside for another smoke before going back to make my purchases. A friend's son was coming in to the show and stopped to talk. He had a 6.5 carcano with him that he had done a nice job rebuilding and he wanted me to see. While looking at the rifle, out comes another rent-a-cop screaming that we could not "buy, sell or barter firearms at this show!" He went on to state that there were people inside which make their living doing this!
Both my friend an I tried to explain that we were just talking and that no "business" was going on. After several minutes of his crap, he left. My parting comment was that I would never come to another U.S. Weapons show again!
The fact is that a new operator is in town called RK shows, and is a class act. U.S. Weapons is feeling the sting and trying to protect it's venders by using rented police muscle. Well, most venders want customers, and this isn't in my opion the way to get them! No laws were broken, and all parties involved had paid the door fee to "buy, sell or trade firearms" as advertised. Just police harassment in the heart of America.
