Nope that's the real deal. Dreamed up and built by SSK in Ohio. Shell holder action by McMillan, Barrel by Krieger, brass is 20mm M103 shortened, formed and reamed. Shoots a 3000 grain brass solid about 2200 fps. Call JDJ @ SSK if you want one............ Wink

Don't doubt it!

They haven't made them for years. Talked to JDJ a couple years back and doesn't sound like he has interest in doing them anymore. The Feds don't like big scary stuff out floating around.

their definition of "hand held weapon" and mine differ a bit. Hand held traditionally means you can shoot it offhand, more than once and hit close to your aiming point at 100 yards. I'd make a small wager that there isn't someone at SSK who can hold this rifle in the offhand position long enough to say the Pledge of Allegiance out loud. For those of you who disagree, just hold a full gallon milk jug out at arms length with one hand and say the Pledge out loud.

I've shot the .950JDJ, albeit the 'mountain rifle' version (only 48lbs.).

It's impressive, to say the least.

An 86 pound rifle? But of course, if it is not a CRF it is obviously no good.

Peter, the rifle is a single-shot. The bolt is removed from the rifle, and the cartridge is placed into the bolt head (which looks like a shellholder).

In effect, it's very CRF as the bolt never releases the round. Big Grin

George, thanks for the education. But will the round feed if the rifle is held upside down?!!!! That is the real test!

My unlimited class .50BMG weighs in at 110lbs. Recoil is about the same as a .22 LR. It barely moves on the rest. Lotsa Boom though! I got the idea from Skip Talbots unlimited gun and made my own version. My stock was whittled out of a aluminum 2X4. When I get a chance, I'm gonna swap the barrel for a 12 GaFH one and shoot the 2000gr bore riders out of it. I use a dolly to move it around and get the young kids to hoist it up to the bench for me. -Rob
