That "2 Bore" video gets posted around quite a bit, and I wholly appreciate the craftsmanship that went into building that rifle, and have a huge amount of respect for Giles Whitome(sp?) the maker. It's actually not a true 2 Bore, it is in fact a 4 Bore(1.052) rifled for bullets. If you doubt this all it takes is an email to Giles and he will give you all the specks on it. One of the dead give away's is the 2500 gr bullets in the video description, if it was a true 2 Bore(1.325) then the round ball would be 3500gr and the bullets would be heavier. 16 drams is/was a pretty standard loading for the 4 bores. What makes it a 2 Bore is the fact that the maximum load for that rifle is a 3500gr bullet on 24 drams of Black Powder. I love the rifle he built, it's a marvelous work of art and engineering and have the utmost respect for Giles Whitome, but that really isn't a true 2 Bore. Colin | |||
