Hello,
(sorry for my bad english!)

I would like to know who amog you any of the above mentioned weapons shoot.
I am particulary interested in handling, performance and recoil of weapons.
Very happy with pictures of them!
Thank you and Waidmannsheil!

Hi Abbiatico,
I have an 8 bore muzzle loader that you can see here: http://s90.photobucket.com/albums/k255/szihn/English%20...ew¤t=20058.jpg

Its a good way to get into a bore rifle without having to fool with brass and reloading gear. I've really been enjoying this rifle and killed 2 deer with it before the season went out. this was my first season with muzzle loading and seeing a pic of this gun is the reason why I got started in it.

Thanks, very nice pictures!
How much did you get paid or where did you buy it?
What weight she?
The recoil seems to be very strong!

The Maker, Steve Zihn, was asking 2800.00 for the rifle at the time and I traded him 2 rifles I had for it. I think he gets around 4500.00 for them now. I havent weighed the rifle, but the maker said it was well over 10 lbs. It is balanced so well that it feels much lighter. The recoil is noticable indeed, but not punishing at all. Its pushing an 810 grain ball at over 1600 fps.

Muzzel loaders are the "cheap" way to play with big bores. I have a few hundred $ in parts for the 4 bore muzzleloader that I put together. It weighs about 14 lbs and the recoil is fairly stout. There are at least a couple of double gun builders for cartridge 4 bores that sell in the $50,000+ range. There is occasional talk on this site about building a single shot falling block action tfor the cartridge 4 bore that I keep hoping will work out someday.

Never had a whole lot of interest in muzzle loaders, but that is a very attractive gun.

I have owned an 8-bore 3 3/4" Holland and Holland double rifle, 2 8-bore Holland Paradoxes, an 8 bore W W Greener top lever hammer double rifle and an 8-bore Tolly double rifle. The Greener weighed 14.5 lbs and I shot it a lot with 10 drams of BP and a 1550 grain conical. I was shooting a 10 bore shotgun, .375 H&H Remington, 405 Model 95 Winchester and a .458 Model 70 one day. The 8-bore felt like a very strong man had his hands on your shoulder and shoved hard when it went off. Had to take a step back. Not near as bad as the .458. It didn't kick as hard, but MUCH faster and felt like a punch. I would rather shoot the 8-bore.

Welcome to the forum GDavidson and Abbiatico .
degoins,
I was looking at your pictures and thought it interesting you have a left-hand lock. Now all you need is a right lock and a second barrel and you could have a double.
Abbiatico would you please put your location in your profile it helps when answering questions.

I have some pictures, just don't know how to add them. I used to collect just 8-Bore rifles, but couldn't afford more than 1 or 2 at a time, and that was a stretch!. I also owned a 12 bore Holland double rifle that weighed 16 1/2 lbs and shot 10 drams in a 4 1/4" case. One of 2 made by H & H. Couldn't afford to keep it back in 1977. It was cased with all acces. in almost unfired condition.

Thanks Bill/Oregon.
I've really been enjoying it. I hope to test it on some hogs soon.
