Just picked up my new Sako 75 SS in a 375 H&H and need some opinions on a suitible scope. I was thinking of a Leupold VX-III 2.5-8X36mm
with a wide Duplex. I mainly hunt in forested areas. Any comments on scope/size (36mm)/or the wide Duplex. Thanks

Look down this page and you will see a post on this subject. IMO, it is tough to beat the 2.5x8 Leupold for an all-around scope with great eye-relief. Lee.

I have a Leupold VXIII 1.5x5x20 on my .358 that i think would be great on the 375 but for me it would be a 200 yard rifle. If shots to 300 yards were possible My eys would need to go above 5x and i think i would go to the Leupold VXIII 2.5x8 .

If you want a 30mm tube, you might look at the Nikon Monarch Gold 1.5-6x42. It has 4.1" of eye relief and is low enough power for dangerous game, yet high enough for most all plains game.

I found one on sale last year (internet) for $382.00. Bought it and put it on my FN .375 H&H. I find it every bit as nice, bright and clear as my four Kahles scopes, for less than half the price. I have a Leupold Vari-X III 1.75-6x32 on my other 375 H&H, and find it not nearly as clear as my European and Japanese optics.

Besides, once you get used to 30mm scopes, 1-inch tubes on dangerous game rifles just don't feel (or look) right.

All great options.....You will be very pleasantly suprised how well the 375 works "way out there " if you get to be good buddies with it.....A 3-9x is a fine option also...On 3 x they suck in light like a vacume ...I put a 1.5-6x 40 mm , 1 inch tube Burris Sig Select with the illuminated dot reticle on my 416 Rem this fall and I relly like it....Of the 3 deer I have on purpose shot and killed at over 400 yrds , none had the scope set higher than 6 x ..And one was with a 3 x leup.and that on a 375 ..... I hope you load for your rifle .....it is unbelievably versitile....The heavy duplex reticle stands out strong in darkish timber and I prefer it to the wide duplex which kind of looses the target area when things are getting dark...The 2.5-8 is a great scope..

.If it can,t be grown , its gotta be mined ....

How about the Leupold European-30 2x7 with the 30mm tube. how would this compare to the VXIII 2.5x8 on the 375
