RWS discontinued it about 2 years ago..and maybe S&B did also..but with the 2nd coming of the 404 that may all change in the near future as Fed. is making .404 and CZ is making rifles, others will follow...It is the best of the 40 calibers and always will be.... Zubin, If you are simply looking for usable factory ammo for a rifle rather than original collectable stuff, you best bet might be contacting one of the small companies that essentially "handload" for their customers. I don't know of any of the top of my head, but I am sure some of our American friends will be able to recommend some.. The red tape surrounding shipping ammo these days but be too much though..Do you handload yourself? Regards, Pete

Ray, I'm pretty sure that RWS discontinued the ammunition and cases in the early 90's. I bought my 10.75 in 1994 and they'd just stopped it a year of so before. Certainly couldn't order cases or ammunition in the mid 90's. Cheers... Con

Pete, Thanks for the quick note...Where i live, handloading is against the law, and even 375 H&H ammo is difficult to come across sometimes... over here i pay about Rs 6000 for a box of Federal Classics (270 grain Hi-Shok) that's equivalent to bout 140 USD... yep...i know its crazy but sadly not too many folks here like to shoot large calibers...and if u do happen to be one of the very very few...then thats the price you have to pay.....even importing weapons into the country is prohibited.....and so is hunting....there's no controlled system of game management here....hope someday these crappy laws change...... would love to handload someday.....thanks once again Pete... z375, I´ve fortunately bought the last 340 rounds of the 10,75x68 FMJ from the RWS company 1998. I was a lucky guy, then I paid only 400.- DM (~ $ 200.-)for all. ´ I know that W.Romey, he makes big bore ammunition, require nearly 10.-€ per round to day. The last old factory ammunition I saw by Harald Wolf/Belgium on the web side. It was old Kynoch and DWM boxes.

Can the 10.75x68 case be formed reasonably easily from something else like the 8x68 case?

hi z375, I will have a talk with my friends at Ã…motfors, Sweden. They have a stock of 10,75x68 FMJ ammunition that they made for Kynoch in the 1960.s husky

The 10.75x68 is probably a strictly handloading proposition. In the first place, it seems that all factory loaeded ammo in the past had bad bullets, even the solids came apart..Maybe some later stuff is a little better I don't know but anyone interrested in the caliber should just figure on handloading it and forget factory ammo....otherwise get a more practical caliber.. Properly loaded its an absolutly wonderful caliber...compact, light, easy on the shoulder and a perfect ladies rifle for the big 5... There are 5 boxes of 10 cartridges each of 10,75 X 68 ammunition for sale at the Kettner store in Paris, France. They are manufactured by W. Romey in Germany. There are two boxes of 347 grain solids and three boxes of 347 grain soft points. The price is 78 Euros per box I believe. If this seems like a lot, Kettner is also selling one box of twenty of Federal Premium Safari in .416 Rigby with Trophy Bonded Bear Claws for 243 Euros. For those of you who want to collect on this fabulous deal, the telephone number of Kettner is (33) 1 45 74 10 77. They are closed on Sunday and Monday. _________________________________ AR, where the hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history become the nattering nabobs of negativisim.

The Woodleigh bullet web site www.woodleighbullets.com shows two 347 grain bullet types specific to the 10,75 X 68 which they produce. I assume these are the bullets in the W. Romey ammo I mentioned as available in Paris. I mention this because they show other 400 grain bullets for the .404 Jeffery. There are at least two brass manufacturers who make the 10,75 X 68 brass: Bertram and Horneber. A quick check of the Johanssen web site on page 97 of the web site catalog www.johanssen-jagd.de lists them at 98.90 Euros and 45.20 Euros respectively for a box of twenty cases. _________________________________ AR, where the hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history become the nattering nabobs of negativisim.

Yes. The remaining factory stocks of loaded ammo and empty cases were bought up by two South German gunsmiths. Carcano -- "Those who sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither." I am loading for my Hoffman that Ray sold me a couple of years ago. I have loaded the 350 X bullet to 2385 f/s and accuracy is exellent at under and inch with iron sights. I hope that Barnes will offer a Triple Shock in 350 gr. soon to compliment the 400 gr. offering. The North Fork 380 gr. CPS are traveling at 2225 f/s with 71 gr. WW 748 with a Fed 210M primer and into about an inch at 50 yd. and Iron sights. This load has promise as Ray has run up to 74 gr. in this rifle. I am quite satisfied with this loading. I wish I were better with Iron sights as That is all one would need. Tom Delucci made me one of his pop up bolt peep sights that I would incorporate on this package and one would have all one needed for Africa. I will make another rifle up with 22" barrel on a single C cut FN Supreme 300 1948 model. It should be Hell for stout action and with a short stiff barrel for accuracy. I have everything I need except the stock, and I have a couple of fine blanks from Lexus Walnut to play with. RIP is one fine shot. square shooter

My ploy to get you to sell me that Pedersen barrel and Blackburn box did not work! I concede. It would be a shame to build a .404 Dakota when you can have a second 10.75x68 mm Mauser.

Sorry Paul, but it isn´t a original A-Type. I get a original Mauser action made in 1934 with Mauser banner in the front bridge. We bought a barrel by Heym in 10,75x68 (24" long). The gun parts like front sight, express sight and double set trigger are from Recknagel. The side mount, we installed, is from EAW (Ernst Appel). The ring for the express sight we made from massiv steel block. My dad and I installed all parts, soldered the rings for the sights on the barrel. The gun is stocked by now-retiered Mr. Drinsinger, Ulm. Now we made a Mauser 98 rifle in 7x57 with an 1909 argentino action. It´s all finished except the stock, the bluing and the scope. I hope, we will finish it this year.(We started the work in summer 2002 ) The Mauser´s are my favourite sporting rifles , followed from my beloved High Wall´s in .45-70 and .30-30WCF.
