I got my rifle back from the gunsmith, I had it pillar bedded, wood sealed, added another crossbolt and trigger job. When I opened the box the screw that goes under the forearm was in a plastic baggie. I assumed this was done for shipment or to let something cure. So I screwed it in and tightened the other two action screws. WasI right it doing this? how tight should they be? Also, what the procedure to attach my Talley lever rings? Should there be a space between the ring halves on top of the rings? I have a variable scope and if I tighten the rear ring too much the power ring is hard to turn. I also noticed that you must be careful in re-attaching the scope sometimes the levers end up in a different position meaning the rings haven't lined up right. Any tips about this?

Brendan, I can not comment on the screw thing but just give your smith a call and ask him. And yes you will run into problems with vertical split rings and leupold ?? scopes on cz's warned or Talleys would not even tighten slightly without making the power ring hard to turn. In the end I just used a set of cz rings I had here, I have added torx screws to all places and as they have a recloil lug on the rear ring they also return to zero just like a QD mount. Others have also had this issue, so either get a fixed leupold of some description or use cz mounts is my suggestion. You would not have the 1-4x20 leupold by any chance ?? By the way I tried two different sets of mounts across 3 cz rifles with 2 different leupold scopes and all did the same thing. The only rifle where it the power ring is firm but still works is on my cz 9.3x62 with warne fixed mounts and leupold 2-7.
