A while back I'd asked some questions on here about whits, cause I had a chance at one which had british proofs and was unfired. Was manufactured late 70's or 80 in 458 win mag...Well I got it,scoped it with a cheapey 2-7x33 loopy and headed to the range with my fav. load which is a real brush smasher...350 gr hornady FN at 2570 fps I fired the typical 3 and the whole was so small,I fired a fourth to open it and prove to myself the werent going wild..100 meters(109 yards)I'm happy, also a little pissed when I think of what I've got sitting in $$$$ worth of guns that wont touch it...In short ,I thank the folks who told me to go with the whit.

I reckon that the gun and load will really whoop the snot out of one of those big ol' Canadian whitetails.... but be careful? At that velocity, the bullet may come apart! Good shooting, btw, regardless of the rifle! I have a Whitworth in .458 but have never put on a scope. I do find it quite accurate as well as I can tell with open sights and Hornady Heavy Mag ammo. JudgeG ... just counting time 'til I am again finding balm in Gilead chilled out somewhere in the Selous.

You got that right..The one I shot last year had 2 243 projectiles in the neck/shoulder grown right in from who knows when, a 30 cal in front of the rear left hip from the current year. Was going full tilt when I put one of those through him shoulder to shoulder out of my 45/70 doin 2140 at 40 yards. Blew his brisket out of the hide..Went 100 more yards. Field dressed and dried in the bush in cold dry air and hit the scales at 312..You aint kiddin,we got some beuts
