45/120 or 45 rcbs would have been a better choice

Jeffe,
Have you seen the 577 double at gunsamerica? I think it's been on there for 3 years...if it was $700 like this one somebody might bite.

I have an Ithica shotgun that looks like its about the same year. It cant even be shot with high brass shotgun shells. Notice the action behind the barrels (not much meat there!). I would check the year of manf. its some where in the 20s that they beefed up the actions and they are safe to shoot normal loads. I wish mine was one year newer it doubles the value

800 and i'd buy it... and laugh at the 577
"Express " which means BPE, not NITRO double.. 650s at 1600fps, more or less, and i bet that would strain that action.

thanks for the link... it's always interesting what people do... at least it's not the MORON that converted a double 10 ga to a 460 weatherby...

jeffe,

The prior owner of the Greener 577 was using 700 grain bullets (and no, I don't know what 700 grain bullets, or why he was not using 750 or 650 grain) with a "substantial" amount of IMR 3031, definitely well above Nitro-For-Black loads. I won't state how much on the net for fear that someone with a 577 BPE might use it. Weight of that Greener was 11.5 pounds. This info was from the seller.

Jim,
thanks for the info... 11.5# in a 577 is a handful!!!

jeffe,

If you would like a little more info on this rifle, plus pics, I will be glad to forward a copy of an email from the seller. Let me know by email. My "finder's fee" will be for you to let me shoot it when you get it (at least once anyway ).
