Iam thinking of buying a custom Remington. This caliber is offered in two models. The Apr-weight 7 1/2lbs and the ABR-9 1/2lbs.Is the recoil too much for a 7 1/2 pound rifle?

I thought so. I went to the laminate stock and added a decelerator to calm the recoil down when shooting full house and hot loads.

No brakes on any of my rifles. I can't answer about Remington offering. I just would rather not have a brake.
The added weight and pad were enough for me tomake it more comfortable to shoot.
I know the Remington pad is horrible so at least change that.
